The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is an all volunteer arm of the United States Coast Guard serving the boating public on the Jersey Shore, In the Tradition of Our Heritage. Operations are directed by CG Station Manasquan Inlet and Auxiliary Division 16.

Flotilla 16-5, originally chartered in Island Heights, New Jersey in 1966, has been located in Brick, New Jersey since 1980 and performs services such as conducting Safe Boating Classes, Vessel Safety Examinations, Maritime Observation Missions (formerly known as Safety Patrols) and Marine Dealer Visits around the Jersey Shore. The Flotilla also enjoys the fellowship of its members as well as the advanced training that is received via the Auxiliary Member Training Department.

Flotilla 16-5 is comprised of 27 very dedicated members, five patrol boats, seven vessel examiners and six public education instructors. Specially trained members serve proudly at Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet and on the Atlantic Strike Team (AST) that supports the US Coast Guard’s National Strike Force (NSF) located at Fort Dix, NJ.
